The Department welcomed our esteemed colleague, Mr. Kevin Montero, Director/Government Archivist, Belize Archives and Records Services to the department during an official visit to Jamaica. His visit included meeting with residential Belizean undergraduate student Joanna Coc (who received three (3) departmental prizes) and marked the recent completion of studies of Ms Sarah Chun, who graduated with the Master of Arts (Archives and Records Management) degree with Distinction in November 2024.

While Department has educated and trained several Belizean Librarians over the years, we are proud that Ms Chun is our first Belizean Archivist graduate. Dr. Griffin and Mr. Montero discussed several initiatives with hopes of deepening the relationship between DLIS and Government of Belize/BARS as well as exploring other possible educational and training opportunities.
