UWI, Mona Open House 2024

The University hosted its annual two-day Open House with secondary schools from around the country in attendance. The Department welcomed the schools to our booth and informed them of the undergraduate programmes currently being offered. Most persons, especially the male students, were really interested in the B.A. in Computer Science.

The Department planned two activities to gain the young people’s attention. These activities included playing a mixed game of Jeopardy and Spin the Wheel. To keep the game centered on the Department, we asked them questions from topics taught in the Department. If the students answered the questions correctly, they were rewarded with a cookie. If they chose to answer the hardest Jeopardy questions and got them correct, they were given a little package, which included our brochures, tuition fees, pens, pencils, a mini note book and candies.

Students left their contact information to ascertain additional information about our programmes. It was an engaging event and we are hopeful that students will consider our programmes. Follow-up outreach activities are being arranged to keep these students engaged and connected to the Department.
